Burd K. Patterson, the new general manager at Compadres Mexican Bar & Grill at Ward Centre, says he wants to continue the restaurant's involvement in community events.

"We are sponsors of the Hawaii Lacrosse Festival and have a team," Patterson said. "This year we had a team from Australia come in."

Patterson has more than 20 years experience in restaurants - from waiter to owner. He came to Hawaii in 1988 and is the former owner of the Margaritas restaurant on Kauai.

Patterson also opened Margaritaville restaurants during the 1980s in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He attended the University of Denver Hotel and Restaurant School.

While living in Kapaa, Kauai, he was a member of the local Rotary Club. He now lives in downtown Honolulu.
