The Honolulu Sharks used a five-run seventh inning to post a 5-1 victory over the West Oahu CaneFires in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game last night at Rainbow Stadium. Sharks rally to beat CaneFires
Vashon Walker singled to start the seventh and, one out later, scored the tying run on Donovan Delaney's triple down the left-field line. After an intentional walk to Matt Smith and an unintentional walk to Jeremy Carr, Delaney scored the tie-breaking run when Mike Asche reached first on an error by West Oahu third baseman Brad Tiller.
Brad Fullmer's two-run singled closed out the scoring.
Jeff Martin, who played prep ball for Kailua High School, started for Honolulu and allowed three hits in five innings while striking out seven.
At Hilo, Mark Kotsay doubled twice and singled and Danny Clyburn ripped two triples to help the Stingrays roll in the first game at Francis Wong Stadium. Maui 10-4, Hilo 1-6
In the second game, the Stars wiped out a 4-0 Maui lead with a five-run fifth inning. Scott Hunter's two-run triple started the scoring and a two-run double by Ben Agbayani put Hilo ahead, 5-4.
