Helping to make publicity pay

Craig T. Miyamoto has been elected a director-at-large for the Public Relations Society of America which has 17,000 members. He will serve in 1997 and 1998 at a time when the issue of services and membership fees is being resolved.

"The national association has trimmed a lot of costs, making more services self-supporting, but the membership wants more services for its dollar," said Miyamoto, who is executive vice president of ProComm Public Relations, part of Starr Seigle Communications.

Miyamoto has a master's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California. He has worked as a reporter and managing editor in Los Angeles, community relations director for the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, and helped start Professional Communications in 1987. After teaching at the University of Hawaii, he returned to ProComm last year.

Miyamoto is a past president of the Honolulu Jaycees, and founder and past president of the Hawaii Stamp & Coin Dealers Association.
