The Honolulu Sharks scored three runs in the sixth inning to get close, then pushed across four more in the seventh to overtake the Hilo Stars, 8-5, in a Hawaii Winter Baseball league game at Rainbow Stadium last night. Sharks big rally
overtakes StarsBrad Fullmer's bases-loaded double drove in the game-winning run and gave reliever John Kelly his first victory over the season.
Matt Smith had a double, a home run and three runs-batted-in for the Sharks. Geoff Blum added three hits.
At Wailuku, Russ Ortiz and Tony Dougherty combined on a three-hitter as the CaneFires won the first game of a doubleheader at Wailuku's War Memorial Stadium. West Oahu 5-4, Maui 0-1
Marty Gazarek and James Betzsold each knocked in two runs for West Oahu.
Gazarek again had the productive bat in the second game with two RBIs. West Oahu broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Maui's Anthony Sanders hit a solo homer in the second game.
