"Oh hello, I've been listening to some messages. Have you been calling often?" Moore asks. "I'm sorry, but we performed in Auckland and Wellington the last two nights. I'm a bit tired and trying to catch up."
Moore, 61, was nominated for an Academy Award for "Arthur" and "10" and has performed classical piano pieces with orchestras and symphonies around the world. In June, he filed for divorce from his fourth wife, Nicole Rothschild, 31, after 26 months of marriage.
He talked about his career:
QUESTION: Can you tell us about your show?
ANSWER: It's an autobiographical look at myself through music which I haven't done before and it's music I relish. I'm not really sure if you folks in Hawaii know who I am though. Have you seen "10" and "Arthur?" You are strung out in the middle of the ocean.
Q: Why an autobiographical theme?
A: It's about time isn't it ... that I got into my own biographical stuff and visited Hawaii since I haven't done that before. The autobio stuff seems a bit silly, a little tricky since I'm only 61.
Q: I recently bumped into Bo Derek at a Bob Dole rally in California and she said to say hello.
A: She did! How nice. I did a photo shoot with her a while back and she still looks absolutely extraordinary. I don't see her or her husband as often as I should."
Q: How have you withstood the test of time?
A: Ha! We'll see won't we.
Q: What's happening with your film career?
A: There's a possibility of a film in England after the new year. But frankly there isn't the same interest in me as there was years ago ... when it seemed I could do no wrong after "10" and "Arthur." I guess the choice of characters wasn't too planned out for me ... though they were nice parts.
Q: Do you miss film popularity?
A: People still come up to me and address me as Arthur, but I'm really not bothered with not being sought after. I was lucky to have music which went along hand in hand with my comedy. I had studied music years ago but I wasn't ... planning to make it another career.
Q: Which medium do you prefer?
A: Why I don't know actually. If a gun were held to my head I'd choose performing on the piano since music means a lot to me.
