Kimono for sale

The beauty of the kimono goes far beyond the robe - it's also the obi, the hair ornaments, the zori. The entire package is up for display and sale Dec. 2 to 6 at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.

Featured will be a kimono collection by Keiko Kendo of Fukuoka, Japan, comprising more than 100 kimono garments for men and women, and a complete range of accessories.

Sale hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Room 102 at the center, 2454 S. Beretania Street in Moiliili. Call 945-7633.



Dance of angels

Heaven's messengers - the angels - will be celebrated in performances by the Iona Pear Dance Theatre Dec. 4 and 5.

The dance company describes "The Mythology of Angels" as an exploration of "the extraterrestrial as a contemporary angelic metaphor."

Performances are at 8 p.m. at the Hawaii Theatre Center. Tickets are $20, $25 and $30, available at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office, 1130 Bethel Street, or by phone, 528-0506.
