Making over the Ambassador

Baron Ah Moo is taking on a remodeling project as the new general manager of the 315-room Waikiki Ambassador Hotel.

Except for 100 rooms on long-term rentals, the whole complex is being redone.

"We're putting in new carpeting in the guest rooms, remodeling the lobby, and putting in new room furniture and fixtures," Ah Moo said. "Work should be finished by the end of the year."

He comes to Hawaii from the Rota Resort and Country Club in the Marianas Islands, where he was controller. Ah Moo has also worked for Richfield Hospitality Services Inc., the Waikiki Parkside Hotel and Hawaiiana Resorts in Honolulu and Kimpton Hotel Management in San Francisco.

Ah Moo earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco and a master's in hospitality management from Cornell University.
