Dew-Anne Langcaon, recently promoted from financial planner to controller, said the system aims to cut costs without lowering quality.
"For example, certain generic drugs or related drugs are available at lesser costs," Langcaon said. "With lab tests, it may be possible to use another test with multiple results instead of using four or five tests."
Langcaon joined Kapiolani in 1993 as director of financial planning for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. A year later, she was named director of financial planning for the hospital's parent company, Kapiolani Health.
Langcaon earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and master's in accounting from the University of Hawaii.
