WEDNESDAY

Barnes & Noble: Hear legends and folklore about the Halloween cat, told by Curtis Brunk and Ben Costa from the Hawaii Cat Fanciers Club, 7 p.m.



SATURDAY

"Beauty in Our Daily Lives": Paintings by children ages 5 through 12 are on display through Nov. 4 at the Academy Art Center. The Mokichi Okada Association organized the exhibit.

Animal Training 101: Children ages 9 to 12 learn about the duties and backgrounds of Sea Life Park staff, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Costs $15. Register at 259-6476.

Tremendous Trees: Children ages 3 to 5 go on a short hike, tell tall tales and make a leaf print T-shirt, 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Hawai'i Nature Center. Costs $7; bring a T-shirt or buy one at the center. Reserve at 955-0100.

Family Fishing Days: Bring bamboo poles, barbless hooks and bait to catch and release tilapia at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Bring walking shoes, bug repellent, rain gear and a picnic. Free; call 233-7323 for reservations.

Kalihi-Palama Library: "Warm Fuzzies" - bring a teddy bear for stories and crafts - 10 a.m.

SUNDAY

Art in the Zoo: Children ages 5 to 11 create art and meet the residents of Honolulu Zoo, 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays in November. The class, which includes painting and sculpture, costs $80. Call 971-7195.



CONTINUING

"Spiders!" on display: Enter the world of the eight-legged, with displays and interactive games, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Jan. 1 at Bishop Museum. Admission is $14.95 general, $11.95 youths, seniors and military. Call 847-3511.

Train rides: Enjoy a 90-minute ride through Ewa 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sundays with the Hawaiian Railway Society, 91-1001 Renton Road. Arrive a half hour before departure time. Costs $8 general, $5 seniors and children. Call 681-5461 for reservations.

Keiki Fun at Honolulu Zoo: Day camp for children ages 5 to 11, with morning and afternoon sessions Nov. 5. Costs $25 for morning, $14 afternoon, or $34 both. Call 971-7195.

"Re-discover Hawaii Kai": Hawaii Kai Towne Center, Koko Marina Center and Hawaii Kai Shopping Center have kids' games, water sports and entertainment Nov. 9 and 10.
