Tom Leppert, Castle & Cooke Inc.'s top executive in Hawaii, has joined Bank of Hawaii as vice chairman and executive vice president.

Bancorp Hawaii Inc., the bank's parent and the state's largest financial institution, today said that Leppert will be responsible for the company's mainland operations as well as its treasury and information management operations. The company said it planned to make an announcement to employees today.

Leppert could not be reached for comment this morning.

Leppert, 42, has served on Bancorp Hawaii's board since 1995 and has been president of residential and Hawaii commercial operations at Castle & Cooke and its predecessor Castle & Cooke Properties since 1989. He joined Castle & Cooke after working in the real estate development business on the mainland.

In addition to his work for the bank and Castle & Cooke, Leppert also has worked with the Hawaii Business Roundtable and Bishop Museum.

During his tenure at Castle & Cooke, the residential developer was spun off by former owner Dole Food Co. Castle & Cooke, one of the state's largest residential developers, is now a separate publicly traded company.

Prior to joining Castle & Cooke, Leppert was a national partner with the Trammell Crow Co. He was appointed a White House Fellow in 1984.

At Castle & Cooke, longtime executive Wallace Miyahira will succeed Leppert, David Murdock, chairman of Castle & Cooke said today.
