
Carneiros kills pace Seasiders

Daniela Carneiro put down 17 kills to lead the Brigham Young-Hawaii women's volleyball team to its 49th consecutive victory last night, a 15-7, 15-11, 15-10 sweep of Chaminade at McCabe Gym.Ana Alves and Arlete Silva each had 13 kills for the Seasiders (23-0), the top-ranked team in the NAIA. BYU-Hawaii, which outblocked Chaminade, 13-2, hosts Nittaidai of Japan in a 7:30 p.m. exhibition tomorrow at Cannon Activities Center.
The Silverswords, leading the NCAA Division II Pacific West Conference, slipped to 17-9. Danielle Robins led Chaminade with 14 kills and Doris Bikar, a transfer from BYU-Hawaii, had 11.
At Port St. Lucie, Fla., Hilo Municipal's Kevin Hayashi was in a three-way tie for 11th place going into today's final round of the ZEVO PGA Assistant Professional Championship at the PGA Golf Club at The Reserve. HAYASHI OFF PACE
Hayashi carded a 2-over-par 74 yesterday for a third-round total of 218. He was 10 strokes behind Wisconsin's Jim Schuman, who shot a course- and event-record round of 65 yesterday.
At the Air Force Academy, Colo., Marie Peterson scored the winning goal on a penalty kick in the second overtime period to give the Air Force Academy a 2-1 win over the University of Hawaii in a women's WAC soccer match yesterday. WAHINE SOCCER TEAM LOSES
The Falcons opened the scoring on a corner kick by Dolly Pasini at the 13:31 mark of the first half. The Wahine tied it seven minutes later when Nicki Arakawa scored off a pass by Poli Paresa.

The 44th annual Dillingham Championships tennis tournament will be held at Punahou School with qualifying matches tomorrow and Sunday and championship matches Nov. 9-11. DILLINGHAM TENNIS
The tournament features $5,000 in prize money and is open to both professional and amateur players.
The Department of Parks & Recreation and Play Tennis America will offer tennis classes at the Ala Moana Tennis Center starting Nov. 11. TENNIS CLASSES
Morning and evening classes will be offered for Adult Beginners, Beginners Advanced and Intermediate. Afternoon classes will be available for Teens & Children Beginners (8 to 16 years old) and Beginners Advanced.
Classes run for six weeks with a cost of $6 for adults (17 and older). Children and teens are free.
Registration will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Nov. 6-8 from 2-6 p.m. in the Tennis Instructors office next to Court 1.
