Florentino B. Abalos, 54, of California City, Calif., formerly of Kalihi, a carpet manufacturer for Creative Accents, died last Friday in Lancaster, Calif. He is survived by wife Rosita; sons John E. and Winlove J.; daughter Judy; parents Elpido and Francisca; brothers Clemente, Roger and Doming; and sisters Carolyn Paderes, Herminia Patao and Merlinda Ishii. Christine C. Carlton, also known as Christine Correia Carlton, 83, of Kalopa, Hawaii, proprietress of Chris Bakery and Chris Cafe, died Tuesday in Honokaa Hospital. Federico U. Castillo, 78, of Waipahu died Oct. 18 in Kapiolani Hospital at Pali Momi. He is survived by wife Veronica D. Edward M. Katchur, 70, formerly of Honolulu, died Oct. 6 in Tucson, Ariz. Katchur, former executive vice president for Pioneer Federal Savings & Loan and vice president of the Bishop Trust Co., retired from Katchur & Katchur Inc. He also was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who served during World War II. Katchur is survived by wife Valerie; son Alan; daughter Amy; brothers Jack and Jim; sisters Francis Corridon and Audrey; and a grandson. Services held.

Edna K.I. Kim, 84, of Wahiawa died Tuesday. She is survived by husband John Y.A.; son John R.; daughters Marian K. Chow, Ruth K. Itamura, Marjorie E. Kashiwada and April K. Kimura; brothers Robert O. Samiko "Betty" Kuwata, 75, of Honolulu, a retired Kahala Sportswear seamstress, died Saturday in Kuakini Hospital. She is survived by husband Tad T.; sons Dwight T. and Dexter T.; daughter Drucilla S. Koide; sisters Sayoko Kuwata and Helen S. Kamiya; and five grandchildren. Private services.

Julian Lanz, 61, of Mililani, a warehouse maintenance person, died Oct. 14 in Mililani. He is survived by brothers Placido, Emilio, Jose Maria and Pablo Lanz Garcia; and sisters Felisa and Puri Lanz Garcia. Elsie K.T. Maruoka, 66, of Las Vegas, native of Kukuihaili, Hawaii, a retired Bank of Hawaii senior clerk at the Kaimuki branch, died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She is survived by husband Masato "Masa"; daughter Lynn Sasaki; sisters Rose K. Cablay, Esther K. Mission, Blanche Von, Evangeline Kekaualua and Leonora Hopfe; brother Thomas K.
