I think that I shall never fathom a poem as lovely as a banyan. Banyan 'birth' on Arbor Day
Thus, the Outdoor Circle plans to plant more than a dozen banyans to restore the Ala Wai Promenade to its full complement of some 50 banyans, says Circle spokeswoman Christine Akaka Hall.
The promenade is the two-block stretch along the Ala Wai Canal between Kalakaua Avenue and Ala Moana. The Outdoor Circle hosts a ceremonial banyan-tree planting at 10 a.m. Friday - Arbor Day in Hawaii - on the ewa side of the canal at midpoint along the Promenade.
