"We're focused on the Wailea Golf Vistas and Wailea Pualani Estate projects and on marketing approximately 300 acres of undeveloped land parcels," said Karl Uesugi, recently promoted to president of Shinwa Golf Hawaii Co. Ltd., which bought the resort in 1989.

Uesugi is responsible for Shinwa Golf Hawaii's subsidiaries, including Wailea Resort, Kauai Lagoons Resort Co. Ltd., Wailea Beach Hotel Co. Ltd., and Shinayu Golf Resort Service Hawaii Inc.

Shinwa Golf Hawaii's parent company, Shinwa Golf Kabushiki Kaisha, owns eight golf courses in Japan.

Uesugi was previously vice president of resort operations at Wailea Resort. He replaces Frank Hamada.
