Best bets for weekend fun

Whoopi Goldberg tackles racism, sexism and other isms in the business world in "The Associates." The movie, costarring Tim Daly, sneaks Saturday night at Enchanted Lake, Kahala, Pearlridge West and Kapolei theaters.



Guitar master
Kaapana in concert

Ledward Kaapana will be joined by friends and relatives in a concert Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hawaii Theatre.

Performing with the master guitarist will be Marcus Wong Yuen, Jennifer Barber, Lehua Kaapana Nash and Leabert Lindsey.

Tickets are $20 to $15 at the theater box office.

Kapena performs at benefit

Kapena, Island Rhythms and Tropical Knights will highlight "Hanai Pono," Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Makaha Sheraton luau grounds.

The event is a benefit for Ohana Ola O Kahumana, a transitional housing program in Waianae.

Tickets are $10 for adults, free for children under 12. There will be drinks and other foods on sale; no coolers or alcoholic beverages.

Keiki hula

Two keiki hula competitions take place at two hotels this weekend.

Hula 'Oni E will be staged tomorrow to Sunday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Competition runs from 6 to 10 p.m. tomorrow; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets - $10 for adults; free for children under 2 - are available at the hotel and at the door. Information: 949-4321, ext. 29.

Hula O Na Keiki will start at 5 p.m. tomorrow and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Maui. Tickets are $10 a night or $18 for both, $5 or $8 for children under 12.
