Loreto Tuquero says he has won at doubles, scratch and handicap in his bowling league at Kam Bowl. But this week the 69-year-old retired hotel worker rolled a 10-pin strike down the Football Fever lane to win $500.
"First time I win money," said Tuquero, who professes to be an all-around sports fan.
He won in only his second attempt at Football Fever. If he was that lucky at the lanes, he could consider the Senior PBA Tour.
Tuquero is a 170 average bowler. But he said there was nothing magical about the way he went 10-0. "I just looked at the team records," Tuquero said.
"I'll use the money to pay my bills," he said.
There were 18,131 entries this week. The winner is chosen at random from all entries that score as well as or better than the week's most successful celebrity panelist. That was KHON-FOX2's Leslie Wilcox who went 8-2. The Star-Bulletin's Mike Fitzgerald has the best season mark, 49-21.
