Senior PGA stars
set for Kaanapali Classic
Hale Irwin, the leading money winner on the Senior PGATour, heads the field for the Kaanapali Classic, which will be played Oct. 25-27 at Maui's Kaanapali North golf course.
Six other top 10 money winners will be in the field, including Jim Colbert, John Bland, Bob Murphy, Dave Stockton, Walter Morgan and Graham Marsh.
SILVERSWORDS WIN
At Billings, Mont., the Chaminade University women's volleyball team, fresh off an upset victory over Hawaii Pacific last week, remained undefeated in the Pacific West Conference with a 15-6, 15-9, 15-9 win at Montana State University-Billings last night .
The Silverswords, an NCAA Division II team, improved to 13-6 overall and 5-0 in the conference as Danielle Robins led the way with eight kills and two service aces.
SEASIDERS STILL NO. 1
The Brigham Young-Hawaii women's volleyball team retained its No. 1 ranking in the NAIA Top 25 poll released yesterday.
The Seasiders (19-0), who ran their overall winning streak to 45 last weekend, received all nine first-place votes. Biola (Calif.) remained No. 2.
Hawaii Pacific (16-4), which split a pair of matches with Chaminade last week, dropped from ninth place to 12th. The Sea Warriors meet the Seasiders Friday at 7:30 p.m., at Cannon Activities Center.
