
The Sea Warriors, ranked ninth in the NAIA, improved to 16-3. Chaminade, an NCAA Division II team, fell to 11-6.
Danielle Robins led the Silverswords with 10 kills. Chaminade was without its leading hitter, sophomore Hinano Warfield, who has a knee injury.
The teams meet again at 7:30 tonight at McCabe Gym. The Silverswords, unbeaten in the Pacific West Conference, then leave for an 11-day, six-match conference road trip.
Villwock, who is the National High Points list leader, is among the contenders for the $150,000 prize purse. Others are Mark Tate, in Smokin' Joe's, and Mark Evans, piloting Miss Budweiser.
The event, held at Pearl Harbor, is free to the public, with free rides to Ford Island. The activities are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 Saturday and Sunday, with ferry service beginning at 7.
The championship race is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be much more than racing: volleyball, musical entertainment, carnival rides, food and skydiving exhibitions.
Also, the Hawaii Association of United States Amateur Boxing will present a 17-bout card tomorrow starting at noon in the outdoor ring on Ford Island.
A free mini-carnival starts at 9 p.m. The men's and women's teams will compete in free-throw, dribbling and 3-point shooting contests. The Rainbow men's intrasquad scrimmage tips off at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Yesterday, the rosters were announced for the men's Green-White scrimmage. The Green team will consist of returnees Seth Sundberg, Eric Ambrozich and Greg Miller, along with newcomers Anthony Carter, Kelvin Anderson and Kawika Akana.
The White squad is made up of veterans Alika Smith, Micah Kroeger and Danny Furlong, redshirt Quentin Gallon and newcomers Michael Robinson and Aaron Curry.
