Ting leads UH golfers

REDMOND, Wash. - Desiree Ting was seventh individually to help the University of Hawaii finish seventh among 12 women's golf teams in the Edean Ihlandfeldt Invitational yesterday.

The Wahine had a 974 total in the 54-hole tournament. Stanford was first by 22 strokes (885) over host and runner-up Washington.

Ting's 229 was 13 strokes over par. Only co-leaders Dodie Mazzuca (Washington) and Andrea Baxter (Stanford) broke par at 213.



HUBBARD WINS HEAT

At Huntington Beach, Calif., Hawaii's Mike Hubbard won his heat and Gavin Sutherland was second as both surfers advanced in the International Surfing Association's World Surfing Games men's open division yesterday.

In the women's bodyboarding repechage round two, Hawaii's Melanie Bartels advanced.



SEA WARRIORS ROMP

Toneho Stepanov scored three goals to pace the Hawaii Pacific University men's soccer team to an 8-1 thrashing of host Brigham Young University-Hawaii yesterday.



SENIORS TO PARTICIPATE

Four senior softball teams from Hawaii will play in the Senior Softball World Championships in Phoenix. The 55's and 65's start play today in the AAA Division . The 70's and 75's play in the Major Division tournament, Oct. 17-20. The Hawaii 75's are the defending champions.



DEADLINE TOMORROW

The deadline to enter the Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce scholarship golf tournament, Oct. 18, is tomorrow. The entry fee is $285 per team, $95 per individual. For information, call Thomas Kim at 947-2276.
