Here's a simple question:
What the heck's going on?

I'm trying to understand something:

And our political incumbents want to be re-elected.

Am I missing something?

Morgado gains momentum and
Fasi supporters, too

Why is it bad for Arnold Morgado to get the endorsement of Frank Fasi? And why is it good for Jeremy Harris to get endorsed by former Governor Waihee and Lex Brodie?

Shame on your newspaper for printing your personal opinions (on the editorial page) and anteing up the fight with Fasi by using Fasi supporters as punching bags.

Harris had better pack his bags because Morgado is picking up momentum. Soon-to-be Mayor Morgado has a great many new friends and many are friends of Fasi.

Fasi keeps his promises, and so does Morgado!

Fasi loves to take credit
for every little achievement

Everyone, get ready now! Here's Frank Fasi giving $50,000 to the University of Hawaii football team and calling on the community to dig up some more.

Want to bet that the next voice you hear will be Frank on the campaign trail, adding to his long list of accomplishments: "And I saved Rainbow football!"

Veterans should
support Abercrombie over Swindle

I'm a Vietnam veteran, 9th Infantry Division, and am proud of my service to my country. Yet I don't agree that Orson Swindle should be afforded any special treatment because of his service to our country. He should stand on his record of service to the community - but he has done nothing for Hawaii.

Neil Abercrombie on the other hand, has lived, worked and bled for the people of Hawaii. His personal sacrifices and commitment are legendary. His loyalty to the interests of the people he represents is unshakable.

Vietnam vets must vote for Abercrombie, the best man for the job. This is to ensure that our efforts in the war are not used or exploited by the politicians who also served in 'Nam.

There are many who paid a great sacrifice with combat injuries, such as Sens. Inouye and Dole. However, they have always stood on their records of service to the community rather than on their service records and combat injuries.

Governor is more worried about
football than felons

Your Oct. 3 article, "Women & Prison Hard Time," demonstrated how out-of-touch Governor Cayetano is with the people of Hawaii.

Then on Oct. 4, Cayetano holds a last-minute meeting with University of Hawaii President Mortimer and the football coach. Is this the kind of priorities that meets the needs of the community? Where is Cayetano's head?

Why isn't the governor holding emergency meetings to address the overcrowding in the women's prisons? Could it be that the women prisoners can't send him on a free trip to Las Vegas like the UH Athletic Department did last fall?

Let the readers and, hopefully, the voters answer these questions in two years.
