James MacArthur, left, who played "Danno" to Jack Lord's Steve McGarrett on "Hawaii Five-O," will appear at conventions in Los Angeles and Honolulu this month honoring the long-running television drama.
"MAHALO Con" will be Oct. 25-27 at the Burbank Airport Hilton, and in Honolulu Oct. 29-Nov. 2 at various locations.
MacArthur is the unofficial host of the Oct. 26 Reunion Party which is being held by "Five-0" fans as a gesture of appreciation to the creative staff involved in the longest running hourlong show in television history, clocking a total of 284 hours from 1968 to 1980.
"It's a novel idea - one convention being held in two...such widespread cities," MacArthur said.
MacArthur also is associate producer and co-host with local producer Emme Tomimbang of a one-hour special, "Memories of Hawaii Five-0" scheduled to air Oct. 20 on KHNL.
The special will give "Hawaii Five-0" fans behind the scenes memories shared by Marie Lord, wife of the show's star, Jack Lord, Richard Denning, who played Hawaii's governor, and several other cast members, columnists Eddie Sherman and Dave Donnelly, Kam Fong and Doug Mossman. Jack Lord, who starred as Steve McGarrett, will not attend.
The convention will include appearances by many of the show's regulars, including Fong, Glenn Cannon (District Attorney Manicote), Zulu (Kono), Herman Wedemeyer (Duke Lekela), Harry Endo (Che Fong), Mossman (George Kealoha, Frank Kamana), Moe Keale, Jimmy Borges, and Al Harrington.
"MAHALO Con" is being organized by Rita Ractliffe in Los Angeles and Doug Mossman in Hawaii.
