Wednesday

Barnes & Noble: The Goosebumps Club meets 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kahala Mall bookstore.
Mom and Dad Berenstain Bear come to visit at 7 p.m. Friday and at noon Saturday and Sunday.
Meet Mary Koski, author of the "Stowaway Fairy" books, 1 p.m. Saturday.



Thursday

Borders: The Drama Club for ages 8 to 14 works on a skit for Halloween, 7 p.m. Thursday at the Waikele bookstore. Rehearsals, costumes and set design are the concerns this night.
On Saturday, meet "The King of Pizza" during Storytime at 11 a.m.
Children's author Mary Koski visits at noon Sunday.
Keiki Storytime is 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays in October.



Saturday

Savanna to the Sea: Discover what African savannas and Hawaiian coral reefs have in common, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost for the zoo and aquarium expedition is $8 adults, $7 children. Register by mail. Call the Waikiki Aquarium at 923-9741.

Family Fishing Days: Bring bamboo poles, barbless hooks and bait for catch-and-release of tilapia at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the Kaneohe garden is free, but call 233-7323 for reservations. Don't forget lunch, walking shoes, bug repellent and rain gear.

"Friends, Fun & Fitness": Central YMCA has an open house with activities for all ages, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Classes are free for this day only. Call 941-3344.

Teddy Bear Fair: Bring your bear for a checkup at the Teddy Bear Hospital, and enjoy games, rides and stories and clowns, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu, 1822 Keeaumoku St. A live, 7-foot teddy bear will pose with you for photos. Admission is free. Call 532-1111.

Expression Session: Children ages 5 to 12 exercise their artistic ability while their parents tour the galleries of the Contemporary Museum, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Costs $10 general. Reserve at 526-1322.



Sunday

"Children and Youth Day & Week": Bishop Museum hosts displays, demonstrations, activities and entertainment by the Makaha Sons, Frank DeLima, Leon & Malia and others, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the museum grounds. The theme of the day is "Healthy, Safe & Fun!" Admission is free. To arrange for Child Safety Seat check-ups, call Camilla Taft at 586-5940. Also, teens talk about the critical issues they face, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum. They'll conduct interviews and presentations for broadcast on public access television. CONTINUING

Tropical plant nature walk: 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Free. Bring walking shoes, insect repellent and rain gear. Call 233-7323 for reservations.

Train rides: Enjoy a 90-minute ride through Ewa 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sundays with the Hawaiian Railway Society, 91-1001 Renton Road. Costs $8 general, $5 seniors and children. Call 681-5461 for reservations.
