OPENING

Amfac Plaza Exhibition Room, 745 Fort St. Annual Open Exhibition of the Hawaii Watercolor Society opens with a reception 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Show continues through Oct. 18.

Arts of Paradise, International Marketplace, 924-2787. "As I See It," oils, pastels and watercolors by Barbara Betts, on view in October. Betts talks about "Basic Printmaking" 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 17.

Firehouse Gallery, Waimea, Big Island. Helen M. Cassidy Memorial Juried Art Show, on view in October. The Waimea Arts Council awards cash prizes for art in nine categories: oils, acrylics, watercolors, colored pencil and pastels, pen and ink, fabric art, mixed media, photography, and sculpture and ceramics. Gallery on the Pali, Unitarian Church, 2500 Pali Highway, 526-1191. "Order! Order!" multimedia art exhibition curated by Gaye Chan, opens Sunday. Works on clipboards explore the human compulsion to control our personal lives and the environment we share. Artists include Anne Bush, Peter Chamberlain, Cheryll Kelly and Jennie Suen.
