So you want to be in the movies. Producers of the two-hour cable TV movie "Atlantis: The Lost Continent" begin filming Wednesday and need hundreds of extras - nonspeaking roles - through November.

Producers are seeking all ages and ethnicities of men, women, and children, and especially dwarfs, adults who are particularly small. Auditions will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hawaii Film Studio, 510 18th Ave. Individual interviews will take about 20 minutes. Bring a pen and current photo. Parents or guardians can register keiki with a photo.

Most of the "Atlantis" locations are on the North Shore with some in downtown Honolulu. Filming will be done weekdays. Non-union extras are paid $44 for an eight-hour work day.

"The goal is to hire people who need the work either because they're unemployed or in need of a secondary income," said Garrison True, casting director.

An overall plan is to create a permanent central casting system for future film projects in Hawaii.
