It's no big deal if
Jeremy isn't Harris' real first name

I didn't watch the debate between Arnold Morgado and Frank Fasi on TV. I didn't hear the interview with Mayor Harris. But I listened to the Perry and Price radio show the next morning while they discussed the activities of the candidates, Fox 2 and anchorman Joe Moore.

Frankly, I'm shocked! They revealed that "Jeremy" isn't Harris' real name. Gee! What other nasty secrets is he hiding?

I guess that puts him right up there with such sleaze as "Ike" Eisenhower, "Jimmy" Carter, "Bill" Clinton, "Al" Gore and "Bob" Dole! Then, of course, there's "Frank" Fasi. (Isn't "Frank" short for "Franklin?")

Come on, people. That's the sort of nitpicking my children use when they realize their arguments are going nowhere.

Frankly, I don't care if a candidate calls himself "Wee Willie Winkie" - as long as he performs the required job.

Terrance Tom is opponent of
protecting environment

I have to agree with a recent letter discussing Terrance Tom's efforts on behalf of special interests.

I have spent many days at the state Legislature trying to pass bills that increase protection of the environment. Tom has often proved to be an insurmountable obstacle. In one case, Tom stripped all the environmental protection measures from the bill on tree farms. In another case, he removed the environmental safeguards from a bill on the conservation district.

This year, Tom pushed through a bill to limit the liability of those who ship oil interisland. He also killed bills to improve air quality at Campbell Industrial Park.

Three rules
can help to make voting easier

In reference to Diane Chang's Sept. 13 column on voting, I have three comments to add:

1) If you do not vote for who you want, don't complain about who you get.

2) If it is difficult to choose someone to vote for, consult a nearby idiot (many are conveniently located in your neighborhood or place of work) and ask his or her advice - then vote the other way.

3) Voting against someone to keep them out of office IS doing something.
