Bhaedhayjibh, Kim in danger of
missing cut in Mid-Amateur golf
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Kalaya Bhaedhayjibh and Mona Kim, both of Honolulu, shot 81 and 85, respectively, yesterday in the first round of qualifying for the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur golf tournament.
Carol Semple Thompson, of Pennsylvania, shot a 2-under-par 70 to take a three-stroke lead.
The low 64 after today's second round of qualifying will advance to match play.
Bhaedhayjibh is tied with 13 others for the final spot while Kim has 34 golfers ahead of her.
RAINBOWS PLACE SEVENTH
At Santee, Calif., the University of Hawaii men's golf team finished the 54-hole Montecito Intercollegiate Invitational yesterday with a 912 total, good for seventh place.
San Diego State won with an 882.
The Rainbows' Regan Lee tied for sixth place with a 222.
SDSU's Kurt Cassidy took individual honors with a 213.

The Hawaii Power Boat Recreational Association will host a day of free power boat and water craft safety demonstrations from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the new ramp, South Lagoon, Sand Island.
