Check your lawyer,
doctor or politician

If you need a lawyer or a doctor, or are just curious about the one you have now, the Internet has two new ways to search for medical and legal professionals.

To find a lawyer go to http://www.wld.com/, home of West's Legal Directory, which is part of West Publishing Corporation.

The 120 year-old firm tracks legal and educational materials, and provides news, business and financial information.

The site's search function lets you look up the background of all practicing attorneys in the United States.

Doctors have their own search engine humming, too.

At http://www.ama-assn.org you can check a physician's education, residency, board certification and some limited biographical information.

If it is the body politic you are interested in, you can check out tomorrow night's election results thanks to the state's office of elections.

Go to http://kumu.icsd.hawaii.gov/elections/ to find all the results, listed by county.

They are supposed to be available on-line about 15 minutes after they are made public tomorrow night.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
