Topples Akebono

TOKYO - Musashimaru overpowered Akebono today in a battle of Hawaii-born wrestlers, staying two victories behind unbeaten Takanohana in the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.

Yokozuna (grand champion) Takanohana, ran his record to 12-0 by easily forcing out Musoyama.

Ozeki (champion) Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani, is 10-2. Yokozuna Akebono, or Chad Rowan, and ozeki Wakanohana are 9-3.

Musashimaru grabbed the belt of Akebono put his head on his chest, drove him to the ring's edge and sent him down.

Konishiki, or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, grabbed Kenko's belt and forced him out for his third victory against nine defeats.

In lower-division action Hawaii's George Kalima (8-4) slapped down Zenshinyama; William Hopkins (5-7), from Hawaii, was sent out by Kushimaumi, and Hawaii's Eric Gasper (5-1) drove out Kotosakuta.
