Ho'opi'i Brothers do
Academy of Arts

The Honolulu Academy of Arts theater hosts concerts by recipients of the National Endowment of the Arts Folk Heritage Fellowship this weekend.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, North Kohala storyteller and singer Kindy Sproat is joined by master slack-keyer Raymond Kane.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Maui musicians Richard and Solomon Ho'opi'i are joined by slack-key master Ledward Kaapana.

Admission to each concert is $12. Information: 532-8700.



Auction for Girl Scouts

"Somewhere in Time" is the name of the Girl Scout Council's fund-raiser Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Girl Scout Hale, 420 Wyllie St.

It's an old-fashioned art and antique auction and ice-cream social, and items include vacation packages, Oriental rugs, estate jewelry, a limited-edition print of Madge Tennant's drawing of Princess Kaiulani, and other collectibilia. Entertainment and refreshments included.

Admission is $30; $25 with Aloha Week Ribbon.

Art benefits blind

"Art in the Park," the benefit for Hui O Na Makamaka (The Friends of the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped), will occur 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Kapiolani Park.

The event includes arts and crafts demonstrations, entertainment, food booths and shopping for hand-made crafts and arts.
