Ralbovsky, Moynahan in final

MAKENA, Maui - Kevin Ralbovsky and Brandan Moynahan reached today's 36-hole final of the Aloha Section PGA Zevo Match Play Golf Championship with two victories yesterday on the Makena Resort's North Course.

Ralbovsky defeated defending champion Tommy Hines, 2 and 1, in the morning quarterfinal round, then edged Clif Council, 1-up, in the semifinals.

Moynahan, the medalists in last Sunday's qualifying, had a pair of 1-up victories, beating Ross Fisher in the quarterfinals and Craig Sasada in the semifinals.



JUBE RECEIVES HONOR

Cesar Jube, Hawaii Pacific University's high scoring forward, has been named the NAIA Far West Region Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 7-14.

Jube shot 14 times and scored four goals during the week.

For the season, he has 12 goals in five games for the Sea Warriors, who are 4-1 overall.



WAHINE FINISH 15TH

At Springville, Utah, the University of Hawaii women's golf team had a 36-hole total of 684 and a 15th-place finish in the Brigham Young University Invitational.

Washington won the team title with a 629. Dodie Mazzuca led the Huskies with a 150 and won the individual title.

Dawn Kaneshiro's 18th-place finish with a 163 topped the Wahine.

Mei-Lin Poai had a 170 (tie 45); Melissa Shintani a 172 (tie 54); Desiree Ting a 182 (tie 82), and Kari Higa a 183 (tie 84),



SILVERSWORDS WIN OPENER

The Chaminade University women's volleyball team defeated Seattle Pacific, 15-7, 15-12, 15-4, last night at McCabe Gym in the Pacific West Conference opener for the teams.

Danielle Robins had 15 kills to pace the Silverswords (9-3 overall).



TRANS KOOLAU TREK ENTRIES

Applications are available for Hawaii's Great Trans Koolau Trek scheduled for May 11, 1997.

The official entry booklet can be obtained at race headquarters, 50 South Beretania Street, Suite C-211A, or via the website at http://www.h-3run.com.

The $3 nonrefundable fee for the commemorative booklet is deductable from the race entry fee.

The race is limited to 100,000 participants, with 50,000 spaces reserved for Hawaii residents and 50,000 for visitors. The last 10,000 slot sin each category will be allocated by lottery.

The regular entry fee (by Dec. 31, 1996) is $39 for Hawaii residents and $44 for visitors. For additional information, telephone 521-4351.
