TODAY

Careers in health care: Wahiawa General Hospital accepts applications this month from students 14 and older for After-School Program in Kilani and Mililani clinics. Call Volunteer Office at 621-4380.

A Gecko on the Internet: Moki the Gecko, created by Bruce Hale, stars in a weekly comic strip on the Web. The strip, updated each Monday, is at http://www.hawaii50.com/gecko.



WEDNESDAY

Barnes & Noble: The Goosebumps Club meets at 7 p.m. to share shivers over "The Ghost Next Door" and make the best paper airplanes for a fly-off contest.

On Saturday, a Sea Life Park presentation on sea turtles offers the chance to hold turtle eggshells, 2 p.m.

The store has crafts and stories 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays, and stories 7 p.m. Fridays, noon Saturdays and Sundays and 10 a.m. Tuesdays.



THURSDAY

Salt Lake/Moanalua Library: "Favorite Fairy Tale Friends," a free hour of stories for preschoolers, begins 10:30 a.m. Thursdays through Oct. 3. Call 831-6831.

Borders: Actress and director Eden-Lee Murray will talk about the theater at the Drama Club meeting, 7 p.m. in Waikele. Amy Craft guides children ages 6 to 14 in projecting their voice and performing before an audience.

Young writers work on fiction, poetry and book reviews for publication, 7 p.m. Saturday. Waikele store has Keiki Story Time 11 a.m. Saturdays and 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays.



FRIDAY

Kaimuki Library: Hear "Amazing But True Shark Stories" at 3 p.m. see fish in tanks, a video and hands-on exhibits.



SATURDAY

Art classes: The Academy Art Center has "Exploring Art" for children in kindergarten through fourth grade and "Drawing and Painting" for fifth through 12th grade. Sessions meet 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. Call 532-8741.

Keiki-Parent Activity Tour: Follow clues into the world of art at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. After the interactive gallery game, kids 6 and older decorate a peri-scope to take home. Tours are free; meet 10 a.m. at Beretania Street entrance. Call 532-8700.



SUNDAY

"Magic" games preview: Get a sneak preview of the "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set at a tournament competition 10 a.m. at the Inter-Island Terminal on the top floor of the airport.
