She is survived by husband Yoon Sik; son William J.; daughters Bong Nae Joo, Young Nae Chun, Chung Sook Kim and Joong Nae, Myung Nae, Jung Yeo and Poong Nae Lee, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Yoshiko Kashiwamura, 88, of Honolulu, formerly of Kahuku, died Tuesday at home. She is survived by sons Ernest T., Daniel S., James K. and Carl H.; daughters Judy K. Ishikawa and Rena S. Mildred S.L. Luke, 89, of Hawi, Hawaii, a retired teacher, died July 30 in Honolulu. She is survived by brother Kan Jung and 50 nieces and nephews. Services were private.
Deane W. Malott, former personal assistant to James Dole, founder of Dole Pineapple Co., died Wednesday at home in Ithaca, N.Y. He was 98. He was Cornell University's sixth president. He served from 1951 to 1963, a time of rapid expansion for the university. He also was vice president of the Hawaiian Pineapple Co. of Honolulu. Malott is survived by son Robert H.; daughters Janet M. Elliott and Edith M. LaBonte, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held later.
Dennis Manipon, 53, of Bellevue, Wash., a native of Kauai, died Saturday at home. Manipon, a journeyman meat cutter for Hughes Market and Fred Meyers, had a rock'n'roll band called the Chevelles.
