David Tanaka of Kailua is the first weekly winner in the Star-Bulletin's Football Fever contest.Tanaka not only had a better record than that of the best celebrity panelist, he nailed all 10 games on the ballot.
There were 7,849 entries last week. Ballots are published every Monday and Tuesday.
Tanaka, 26, who works as an advertising layout designer for Daie Holiday Mart, went with the odds and correctly picked Boston College to beat the University of Hawaii last weekend.
"But when I was at the game, I didn't remember I'd picked B.C.," he said, admitting he was swept up in the emotional near-upset. "I was thinking I'd picked Hawaii."
The Kalaheo and UH graduate said he plans to use part of his cash prize to take his family out to dinner.
