The Sea Warriors (7-0) placed three players on the all-tournament team: Lei Kaisa, who led the tournament with 75 kills; Gracann Keohohou, who had 38 aces in seven matches, and Nina McClinton, named the Most Valuable Player. Also selected were Danielle Robins from runner-up Chaminade and Jamie Apuna from third-place Dowling College.
Yesterday's earlier championship round pitted the two undefeated teams: HPU and Chaminade, both 6-0. The Sea Warriors needed 2 hours and 15 minutes to send the Silverswords to the loser's bracket, 15-6, 10-15, 15-8, 14-16, 15-9.
Chaminade then defeated Dowling to earn a rematch with HPU.
Host Hawaii-Hilo finished 4-3 in the eight-team tournament.
Two-time defending NAIA champion Brigham Young-Hawaii participated in the first two days of the event, going undefeated in pool play, but did not compete on Sunday because of church rules. The 13th-ranked Seasiders left today for the Premier Challenge in Denver this weekend.
