"We have closer on-site customer relations now and our goal is to develop customer loyalty," said Piper, the Waikiki hotel's new general manager. She most recently was manager of the Outrigger Village and Outrigger Coral Seas hotels.

Piper joined Outrigger in 1983 and was director of sales for seven years. She also opened the Japan and Korea sales offices.

For nine years, she was manager and assistant vice president in the Waikiki offices of Deak Perera Foreign Exchange. Piper also was circulation manager for Pacific Business News for two years.

She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Seattle University and is a graduate of the University of Hawaii executive management program. Piper and her husband, John, have a daughter, Kaiulani, who attends Cornell University.
