
The Pupukea resident negotiated the 4.6-mile Labor Day Race course from Waimea Bay to Haleiwa Alii Beach Park in 47 minutes, 37 seconds to win the open division on his 16-foot board.
Runner-up George Ramos finished in 53:21.
In the 12-foot division, Dale Hope came in first in 53:31 and won the 40-49 age group title at the same time.
Victor Hemmy III, winner of the 20-29 age group division, was second overall in 54:37.
The first women to cross the finish line was Julie Speier in 1:04:10. Tasha Ho was second with a time of 1:05:08.
In the surfboard competition, Tyronne Emery won the under-30 division in 1:20:31 while Ken Goldman took the 31-and-over title in Ken Goldman, 1:04:21.
Yamamoto, who tied a course record and set a personal low mark with an opening-round 64, shot a 68 yesterday.
Damien Jamila finished second at 212 after a par-72 yesterday. Jim Arlington was third at 73-218.
Yamamoto's 201 is a 54-hole record for the tournament, according to Barbers Point pro Robin Hashimoto. John Inzer set the course record of 64 in 1971.
The Silverswords (6-0) victory at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium was their sixth of the tournament, equaling their total for all of 1995.
It also was the first time CU coach Glennie Adams had defeated, her alma mater and mentor, UHH coach Sharon Peterson.
