Foodland promotes
longtime employee Noyama

After 43 years at Foodland Super Market Ltd., Hideo "Joe" Noyama has taken on the challenge of a newly created position, senior vice president in charge of sales and merchandising.

"I will oversee all the departments and make sure everything is ship-shape and we have the items they (shoppers) need and want," Noyama said. This includes the meat, produce, general merchandise, grocery and liquor departments in all 30 Foodland and Sack N Save stores.

Henry Lee, the former director of general merchandise, replaces Noyama as as director of grocery operations.

Noyama joined Foodland in April 1953 as assistant manager of the Beretania Foodland store. He is a graduate of McKinley High School and served in the famous 442nd regiment during World War II. Noyama and Frances, his wife of 46 years, have two sons: Craig, 45, and Jared, 37.
