PEOPLE who know singer Jimmy Borges will tell you that outside of singing, golf is his true passion. (If the truth be known, he sings a lot better than he golfs.) I had no idea just how pervasive this golf obsession was until I learned that when he performs again this year at the Institute for Human Services "Big Band Bash" fund-raiser, there'll be a miniature golf course installed in the foyer outside the Coral Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. IHS board director James C.M. Young is creating this one-of-a-kind mini course spectacular so women in gowns and men in tuxedos can putter round for charity whenever they're not kicking up their heels on the dance floor to Borges and the Gabe Baltazar Orchestra. AND speaking of golf, one of Borges' best pals in showbiz, late pianist Bobby Enriques, "The Wild Man of Mindanao," died Aug. 6 and was interred in Colma, Calif. He'd always joked, "When I die, I'd like to be buried next to a golf course." Olivet Memorial Park in Colma overlooks one of several courses in the area. Golf course designer Robert Trent Jones frequently employed Enriques at the Bohemian Club in S.F. and spearheaded an "urgent fund" to raise money to pay funeral expenses, with whatever was left going to his kids. DESIGNER Anne Namba knew she couldn't top having First Lady Hillary Clinton as a current customer, but she was willing to settle for a former No. 2. Joan Mondale, wife of former vice president (and current U.S. ambassador to Japan) Walter Mondale, purchased a Namba ensemble at a private Tokyo fashion show hosted by Vivian Stackpole, wife of retired Gen. Hank Stackpole, former Commander, Fleet Marine Force Pacific. Mrs. Mondale even sent Namba a photo from the front page of the Japan Times showing her meeting the Crown Princess while wearing the Anne Namba Design. Needless to say, Namba was delighted, particularly on learning that many other ambassadors' wives purchased garments at the show, proposed as an annual event. And for you nonpolitical types, Namba also sold six outfits to Mrs. Sadaharu Oh, wife of Japan's most famous baseball star; she visited Namba's Manoa boutique on her latest Honolulu visit ... LOCALITE Les Enderton is back from Scotland, where he attended the Glasgow world piping championships. Enderton even got a chance to try out some pipes himself - he plays for a group locally - when a piper "right out of Central Casting" on the shores of Loch Ness loaned him his set.
