Faith Rex, Bank of America-Hawaii spokeswoman, said that the company's plant in Oak Brook, Ill., suffered an outage this morning bringing down the computer that provides customer information for Bank of America ATMs in Hawaii, Texas, Oregon and New Mexico.
The power failure was caused by stormy weather, she said.
Rex said that all 165 of Bank of America's ATMs in Hawaii went out early this morning. She noted that the local ATMs were working as of 5:30 this morning. Rex said the company's ATMs were back on line by about 10 a.m. today.
The company said its earnings fell to $2 million, or 4 cents a share, from $12 million, or 21 cents a share in the previous fourth quarter.
Part of the decline came from an after-tax charge of $1.4 million in bank loan fees in connection with a refinancing, but operations in some of the company's casino hotels also produced lower results.
Despite a 15 percent increase in revenues to $194 million, from $168 million in the April-June quarter of last year, the company's earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation dipped to $42 million, from $50.6 million a year earlier.
The company's California Hotel and Casino, and Sam's Town Las Vegas Hotel and Casino are popular with Hawaii residents.
Boyd announced in early July that it expected significantly lower fourth-quarter earnings.
