JETS CUT SYDNER

Former University of Hawaii slotback Jeff Sydner was cut by the New York Jets yesterday.

Sydner was drafted in 1992 in the sixth round by the Philadelphia Eagles. He entered the draft after his junior season with Hawaii.

The 5-foot-6, 180-pounder was released by the Eagles in 1995. Sydner missed most of the 1994 season with a knee injury. The Jets picked him up midway through 1995, but yesterday, the Jets reduced their roster to 59 by reaching an injury settlement with Sydner and releasing him. Sydner signed with the Jets as a free agent last season and played in six games.
