GST's Soto says Hawaii has priority status

GST Telecom Hawaii Inc. is going after local, interisland and long-distance telephone business under the direction of regional sales manager Ed Soto.

In 1995, the company received approval from the state Public Utilities Commission to provide voice, data and video-digital private line service in Hawaii.

"We have a real commitment to the people and state of Hawaii," Soto said. GST is doing business in California, Washington and Texas but Soto says Hawaii is the "top priority."

He has 28 years of experience with AT&T Corp. as sales manager, marketing manager and systems engineer. Soto earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Manhattan College of Engineering and completed graduate courses in business administration at Rutgers University.

GST Telecom Hawaii is a subsidiary of GST Telecommunications Inc. of Vancouver, Wash.
