A group of children living at homeless shelters gets a sample of sailing on board the Free Spirit trimaran, thanks to a volunteer program. Jane, 9, takes a turn at the helm while Eric, 11, hauls in the jib sheet on a tack. The Kids Opportunity Program for the past four years has sponsored a summer sailing program for homeless kids. Besides sailing skills, the experience offers goal-setting, teamwork, pride and self-esteem.
