Leuthuilay came up with a list of items to put into the center's time capsule, to preserve for future generations. Her list included a picture of the Children's Discovery Center's grand opening (which will take place in a year), a Hawaiian flag and a conch shell, reflecting her love of Hawaii.
Leuthuilay is the daughter of Bou and Kimchi Leuthuilay. She won a $50 savings bond for her contribution.
The time capsule was filled with dream wishes at ground-breaking ceremonies held last week. Leuthuilay helped in the ground-breaking ceremonies, along with Gov. Ben Cayetano, Children's Discovery Center honorary chairperson Lynne Waihee and center president and CEO Loretta Yajima.
Other wishes will continue to be added to the capsule through the year, and will be displayed at the center's grand opening.
When the center is open, it will instill in Hawaii's children a pride in themselves and their cultural heritage. Exhibits will include the latest in computer technology designed to help children learn to think and ask questions about themselves, others and the world around them.
