Robinson, a Laie resident, received the FAA's Screener of the Year award this month for her contributions to airport security.
"Actually I'm very elated. I'm humbled by the experience for being chosen," said Robinson, employed by ITS, Inc..
As airport checkpoint security supervisor, she works with a staff that screens preboard passengers and their baggage upon entry to the airport.
Beginning at 5:45 a.m., Robinson is making sure travelers have a safe flight from Honolulu's International Airport at checkpoint 5, between NorthWest and United Airlines lobbies.
She works 10-hour shifts four days a week supervising the screening of an estimated 6,000 people at the checkpoint in a given day.
Robinson says that it's wonderful to be able to come to work in the morning and have passengers share their travel experiences.
Most of all she enjoys working with the airport screening staff.
Robinson's two sons were the first to get jobs as screeners and that was how she got interested in the profession.
"Having Dianne selected as FAA Screener of the Year favorably reflects the program we have in Honolulu," says Jean Morrison, airline security coordinator.
FAA Domestic Air Carrier Operations said Robinson has recorded a perfect FAA weapons detection rating during her three years as supervisor. She was picked by airlines to oversee the implementation of a testing and training tutorial program use to help increase proficiency of screeners.
"Dianne goes that extra mile, she's very enthusiastic, does have that aloha spirit and (is) very efficient," adds Morrison.
