Not tired of Olympics?

If you want to maintain that Olympic "high" of past weeks, Bishop Museum is offering "Twist, Flip and Bounce," a day of Olympic-style and gymnastics exhibitions from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25.

One of the day's highlights will be an appearance by former Olympian Kathy Johnson-Clark, one of only six American women to ever win an individual medal in gymnastics. She will sign autographs at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 and 3 p.m., as well as offer tips at 10:30 a.m. and 1 and 2 p.m.

In addition, get the inside scoop on training and preparing for gymnastic competitions, join an aerobics class, and get tips on athletic footwear, body-fat composition and injury prevention.

The free events are sponsored by Xerox Hawaii. Call the Bishop Museum at 847-3511 for information about this event, or the continuing exhibition, "SPORT!," devoted to the science of athletics.


Funk and Hawaiian tunes

Under the Lake, a funk-fusion jazz band whose line-up features internationally renowned saxophonists Hollis Gentry and Jeff Kashiwa of the Rippingtons, will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at Castle High's Ronald Bright Theatre.

Opening for Under the Lake will be the Native Hawaiian Band, with an all-star line-up of James "Bla" Pahinui, Dennis Kamakahi, Gary Haleamau, Elmer Lim, Michael Kaawa and Milton Lau; and TSB (The Spencer Brothers, Freddy and Isaiah), a young hip hop duo.

Tickets are $20, available at Black Imani Books in Aiea, Tower Records and Rainey and Rainey Productions, 528-1989.
