Miami - Miami Reggae Festival, largest in the U.S.

Houston - British Airways supersonic Concorde makes first commercial flight out of Houston.

MONDAY, August 5:

Cairo, Egypt - Ruling expected in case of professor whose wife was ordered to divorce him after he was declared an apostate for his writings.

Washington - Congress scheduled to begin recess for rest of month.

Chesapeake, Ohio - Grand jury hears case against a lobotomized man accused of setting fire to a fireworks store, killing nine people inside.

Harrogate, Tenn. - Sentencing for college student who discarded her newborn baby in a trash bin.

Virginia Beach, Va. - Scheduled trial date for Jon C. Bush, a self-proclaimed vampire, charged with raping or sexually molesting 13 girls between the ages of 13 and 16.

Cincinnati - End of American Federation of Teachers' national convention.

TUESDAY, August 6:

State primaries or runoffs in Georgia, Kansas, Michigan and and Missouri.

Santa Monica, Calif. - Procedural hearing in O.J. Simpson wrongful death case.

Los Angeles - Trial scheduled in interference lawsuit filed by Television Marketing Group against Loni Anderson.

Beverly Hills, Calif. - Network heads of children's programming discuss "Kids' TV For You and Me" at second annual Newsmaker Luncheon sponsored by Hollywood Radio and Television Society.

WEDNESDAY, August 7:

Ventersdorp, South Africa - Trial opens in attempted murder case against white rightist leader Eugene Terreblanche, charged with attacking a black security guard.

Williamsburg, Va. - Athletes of the U.S. Olympic team are invited to a special celebration visit to Busch Gardens.

Potosi, Mo. - Execution scheduled for Thomas Battle.

Oshkosh, Wis. - Initial appearance for sexual predator John J. Sampe who is accused of using the telephone at the resource center where he was committed to make obscene calls and calls to sex lines.

Lubbock, Texas - Federal kidnapping trial begins in case of man accused of kidnapping a Texas Tech professor and taking him to New Mexico.

Salt Lake City - Deadline for Joseph Waldholtz to produce information about personal finances in divorce from U.S. Rep. Enid Greene. Permanent custody and property-division issues still are pending.

THURSDAY, August 8:

Varner, Ark. - Execution scheduled for man convicted of killing former in-laws in 1984.

Milwaukee - World's largest game fair, GEN CON, is expected to draw 30,000 people from around the world. Through Aug. 11.

Virginia Beach, Va. - Christian Broadcasting Network sponsors "On Eagles' Wings," national conference for single people. Through Aug. 11.

Columbia, Mo. - U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championships open.

San Diego, Calif. - Log Cabin Republicans hold gay Republican convention.

Virginia Beach, Va. - Fiftieth anniversary reunion at Oceana Naval Air Station of present and former Black Aces officers and chiefs.

Norfolk, Va. - Decommissioning of the aircraft carrier USS America.

McAlester, Okla. - Scheduled execution of Steven Keith Hatch, convicted of murders of minister and his wife in 1979.

Fort Myers, Fla. - Arraignment for Alfred Rhiner and Jami E. Lee for first-degree murder, auto theft and robbery in July 9 shooting death of German lawyer.

Milwaukee - Sentencing for Sheriff's Department Lt. James Ganey, convicted of fondling three women at a party.

Columbus, Ohio - Trial for Jerry Hessler, accused of killing four people in a shooting spree in Columbus and Ashland.

San Diego - FAIR sponsors national conference on immigration reform.
