Mortgage firm exec
touts phone loan program

All Pacific Mortgage is using a new telephone program for borrowers under the direction of Mark James, the new regional manager of the company's four Hawaii offices in Honolulu, Aiea, Kailua and Wailuku.

"A lot of people are reluctant to discuss their finances face-to-face with loan officers or realtors so we are using a program so people can call in 24 hours a day and pre-qualify (for a loan) on the telephone," James said.

The program, called Mortgage Connection, began last month in Hawaii. Callers answer 10 questions, punching in personal finance data using a touch-tone phone.

James has been vice president and Honolulu branch manager at All Pacific Mortgage since 1989. He also worked 10 years for the Mason-McDuffie and Weyerhaeuser mortgage companies in Hawaii.

All Pacific is a division of Inland Mortgage Corp., which has offices in 26 states.
