Weekend fishing: Nuuanu Reservoir No. 4 will open on weekends to anglers with valid state freshwater game fishing licenses and entry cards beginning Aug. 17. Application forms are available at the Division of Aquatic Resources, 1151 Punchbowl St., Room 330, and license agents; submission deadline is 4 p.m. Friday. A drawing will determine cardholder's fishing date and time. Call 587-0100.

Sunset Natural History Walk: Learn about waves, beaches and Waikiki, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Costs $6 adults, $5 children. Call the Waikiki Aquarium at 923-9741.

African dance and drum classes: With Ousmane Gallo Soumah, Friday through Sunday, UH-Manoa's Athletic Facility, Studio 3. Charge. Call 239-6058.

Sierra Club: Help build the Maunawili Falls access trail, Saturday and Sunday. Bring backpack, lunch, two liters of water, shoes and rain gear. Call 538-6616.

Kilauea Volcano Wilderness Runs: Saturday, Kilauea Military Camp. Call 982-7783, Big Island.

Taro Patch Party: Learn how taro is cultivated and its role in Hawaiian culture, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Hawai'i Nature Center. Costs $5. Reserve at 955-0100.

Honolulu Zoo: Enter the nightlife of the zoo's

citizens, 7 to 9 p.m. daily, Saturday through Tuesday. Admission $7 adults, $5 children. Reserve at 971-7188.

Ka'au Crater hike: Steep valley-to-ridge hike with Ken Suzuki of the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club, 8 a.m. Sunday. Six miles. Costs $2. Call 845-4691.

Collage workshop: Gloria Foss and Susan Rogers-Aregger teach paper dyeing and collage, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 10, 17, 18, 24 and 25 at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Costs $70 for dyeing day and $105 for four-day workshop, or $30 per workshop, plus tax. Call 395-4702 or 839-1573. Payment due July 30.

Shishu embroidery: Classes in this traditional Japanese needlework will run 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, Aug. 16 to 19, Kuakini Health System's Hale Pulama Mau auditorium. Honolulu Zoo: The zoo opens at 8 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. General admission $6; $2 with Yum Yum Tree senior card. First Wednesdays feature a botanical tour at 8:45 a.m. for $2 more. Third Wednesdays, tai chi practice begins 8 a.m. Call 971-7174.

Nature Conservancy hikes: Two guided hikes a month to Honouliuli Preserve, home to more than 45 rare native plants and animals. Donation. Call 537-4508.
