Chin, Ishii win championship

David Chin and David Ishii won two matches yesterday to capture the Aloha Section PGA Top-Flite Four-Ball Match Play golf tournament championship.

In the semifinal round, Chin and Ishii defeated Mark Chapleski and Shane Abe, 2 and 1. Then they topped Rick Castillo and Ron Castillo Jr., 4 and 2, for the title.

The Castillo team reached the final with a 2 and 1 victory over Bill Schwallie and John Inzer.



McLACHLIN TRAILS BY NINE

At Flagstaff, Ariz., Parker McLachlin of Honolulu was in 14th place, nine strokes off the pace, after the second round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship.

McLachlin had rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 total.

Brent Roof, from Conway, S.C., is the leader at 69-73-142.

Honolulu's Jim Seki Jr. had a 76 in the first round, but was one of 79 golfers who did not complete yesterday's second round.



AU WELL BACK

At Wilmington, Del., Elisha Au of Waikoloa on the Big Island had a two-round total of 163 after yesterday's play in the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls' National Golf Championship.

Former Hawaii resident Grace Park, now living in Phoenix, was the leader with a 139.



KIM STYMIES MOVERS

Tommy Kim pitched a four-hitter to lead the Oahu All-Stars to a 6-1 victory over the Hawaii Island Movers in an exhibition baseball game at Rainbow Stadium last night.



DERENNE HAS HOT BAT

At Joplin, Mo., Keonie De Renne of Honolulu had three hits to help the USA Blue team defeat Carl Junction American Legion, 17-0, yesterday at the USA Baseball Junior Team Trials. He also scored two runs.
