Musashimaru upends
Takanonami

NAGOYA, Japan - Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani of Hawaii, handed Takanonami his first defeat today, leaving three wrestlers tied for the lead at 10-1 with four days left in the 15-day Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament.

Musashimaru is 8-3.

Tied for with Takanonami are yokozunas (grand champions) Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, and Takanohana.

Akebono charged sekiwake (junior champion) Kaio and thrust down him with a single blow.

Konishiki (5-6), or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, fought off No. 9 maegashira Asanowaka's initial feint of sidestepping to the left, grabbed his foe's belt and bulldozed him out.
